Helping others this time of year seems natural. Previously I’ve donated time to Americare’s but this year I’m volunteering with the Los Angeles chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
I will be joining their “A Brush with Kindness” program on Friday, Dec. 11th. It’s a locally-operated program serving low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. The program is a holistic approach to providing affordable housing and assisting communities as well as families.
The jobs on Friday could include painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, weatherization and/or exterior clean-up. Whatever the task is I’m up for it and will leave knowing I’ve helped a homeowner in need improve their curb appeal.
There are Habitat for Humanity volunteer opportunities wherever you live.
