Installing Central Air-Conditioning in an Old Home

    bad-blower.jpg

From the houseblog The Old Man and the Street, which chronicles the life of a 1912 Arts and Crafts Foursquare, comes an excellent explanation of what they did to install high-velocity air-conditioning in their 1912 home that had no existing ductwork and while they continued to live there. This type of retrofit required extreme patience from the owners as well as a willingness to see their home ripped up. The thought of installing a 5-ton blower and cutting 30 air vents is scary enough. But with this heat wave I'm sure it's all worth it.

Installing AC systems on aged houses entails a lot more work as compared to installing systems on new buildings. The guys from The Old Man and the Street did a great job with the unit, considering the absence of ductwork.
