    Chemical-free Cookware Options

Swapping harsh bleaches or detergents for mild cleaning products or CFLs for the energy-draining light bulbs of the past are just some of the easy green improvements you can make around your home. While you're at it, consider changing your cookware.

Concerns are on the rise about the dangers of Teflon-coated pans, as they can emit hazardous fumes when heated to a high temperature without the application of a cooking spray or oil. Replace chemically coated non-stick pans with stainless steel, copper or cast-iron. They can be more expensive and require increased care, but the payoff for healthy food—and a healthy family—is priceless.

I dont understand why these companies still sell those teflon coated pans if everyone keeps saying they are not safe at all.

I am actually in dilemma here as I thought non stick pans are better than stainless steel ones simply because they are easier to clean and maintain...but I have been reading a lot of posts during my research that teflon coated pans can have hazardous effect on ones health..so I think I am setting for the stainless steel ones.
