Downsizing Homes

Has it really taken the fear of the economy to convince homeowners to reconsider their mcmansion? Regardless of reason this is a welcome trend and we hope it lasts. As homeowners require more accountability from builders the developers will react and move the market in this direction by building smaller homes of higher quality.

Hello All,
I have a small 600 sq. ft home, I'm about to remodel, and because of its high profile location, and favorable factors (south facing, fairly windy) I am looking to see if anyone knows of a Prototype/Research House type program that might help me in my plans to build a self sufficient energy independent home. The property is located in a high end area, on a somewhat busy road, that would provide good opportunities for awareness, and education.
