Contain DIY Waste With The Bagster

My inspiration for C&H blog posts knows no bounds--magazines, newspapers, HGTV, friends and family--and now, television commercials. Last night, I found myself intrigued by an ad for The Bagster, a dumpster in a bag that can be purchased at local home improvement stores and, post-project, hauled away by scheduling a pick-up.

Waste Management, The Bagster's parent company, says the large, durable invention can tackle a variety of home projects, from roofing, renovations, organizing, landscaping and more. For an even more specific breakdown, each The Bagster can hold:

    • 47 sheets of 1/2-inch thick, 4' x 8' sheetrock
    • 180 wall studs
    • 8 to 10 squares of 30-year asphalt roofing shingles
    • 900 square feet of carpet
    • 900 square feet of ceramic, glass or porcelain tile
    • 1,280 square feet of 3/4-inch thick hardwood flooring

Once The Bagster is full, place a call to Waste Management to schedule a pick-up. Service is available in most large metropolitan areas, and the company says additional locations are being added regularly. The approximate cost to haul away one mixed-waste load is $109, and $89 for each additional bag. Waste Management says The Bagster is cheaper than renting a traditional Dumpster. If you try it out, let us know your thoughts!

I used 4 bagsters over the course of a couple of months when remodeling our house. So handy. I bought them and kept them until I was ready to put one out to fill. I think I still have one in the hall closet, will come in handy when we clean out the attic

Bagster is not recycled and is not biodegradable - looks like a big step backwards to me!!
