Gracious Home Files for Bankruptcy

Gracious Home was a New York institution long before Home Depot and Bed, Bath and Beyond arrived. In fact they were established in 1963 originally as a hardware store. Last week they filed for bankruptcy and time will tell if restructuring will save the company.

   

We have fond memories of visiting Gracious Home on the Upper West Side and although their customer service was sometimes a bit spotty and their prices at a premium, their inventory was deep and we would spend hours in the basement going over tools and fixtures that you couldn't find anywhere else in one place in NYC.
