Add This Thermostat To Your Must-Have List

If you're eager to make your home more energy-efficient, one of the best things you can do is install a programmable thermostat, which will help keep the temperature in your home more consistent, and is more reliable than an older, non-digital model.

But there's so many to choose from! We were a little overwhelmed by the selection, too, until we were browsing Home Depot's community forums and came across a recommendation for the Filtrete 7-Day Touchscreen Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat with Backlight (just try and say that three times fast!)

It's an intuitive, easy-to-read thermostat. And better yet? You can remotely program it from an Internet connection or smartphone, which means you can keep an eye on your home's temperature even when you're not there.

Plus, you can program the thermostat for up to 7 days, which allows for "efficient climate control that fits your schedule," according to Home Depot.

Other features include an on-screen filter change alert, grid status indicators if you're in an area served by the Smart Grid and 100 percent compatibility with all residential heating and cooling systems.

The Filtrete thermostat will set you back $100, but we think it's a worthy investment. What's your take?

  • A room air conditioner is just an air conditioner designed to cool a single room. There are basically 3 types of true air conditioners commonly used in residential applications, including portable, window, and through wall air conditioners.

I went out and purchased this after reading this posting.  The description sounded like it would fit my busines situation perfectly.  The installation went smoothly minus a few challenges.  The process of trying to connect the wifi has been a disappointment.  I am not one to complain, but the support call center is not good, and I am putting it politely.  Still after two weeks I have not been able to speak with anyone that can help.  Would love to hear if anyone else has had better luck than I have.
