Talk about painting with a purpose. The Colour Project is beginning a color movement across the world. Their site states that "Grey is out. Gloom is gone. It's time to live our life in colour."
This amazing project is traveling all over the world, from Johannesburg to Istanbul, to bring colors to the streets and buildings and anything in need of a brighter outlook.
They are working together with local communities across the globe, rolling up their sleeves to paint streets, houses, schools and squares. You can check out their blog here or make a donation here.

For me, painting is hard. The prep work is a pain and by the time I'm done, my arms ache and all I can see are the spots I need to fix. I think a solution to this problem would be to throw a painting party the next time I've got a room to paint.
I was inspired by Casa Sugar's post on the subject and have come up with a few ways to get the party started.
1. Send out invitations (these would be cute). Make sure you mention attire (old clothes) and a time frame (12-3) so if things go over, they're allowed to duck out!
2. Delegate tasks. Pair up people to make each chore a little more fun. You might even want to assign team names like "Team Trimwork" or "Base Coat Babes." And be prepared to give guests a quick run-down of some of your favorite painting tips or suggestions.

Black paint isn't only limited to gothic-inspired decor or teens that need to rebel (though if you do have a rebellious decorative teen, here's some good advice.) In fact, black walls done right can add high drama and elegance to any room.
Here are a few tips for working with black paint:
+ Any dark paint easily identifies chips or uneven surfaces in a wall. Make sure you properly prep before you paint and sand down any blemishes.
+ Opt for a matte finish. High gloss or semigloss will only highlight imperfections.

Buh, bye basic browns! Why stain that old adirondack chair in a basic wood when you can choose from colors like avocado and purple velvet?
Olympic exterior stains has added to their wood tones with great colors for the outdoors. Their stains have been developed to stand up to sun, wind and water and are guaranteed to protect decks and other wood surfaces for years. They've got UV protection and mildew-resistant coatings too.
If you're looking for even deeper hues, try their Maximum Solid Color Stain - it's a wood stain that looks just like paint, available in over 130 colors. How will you ever choose?
