Charles & Hudson was invited along with numerous other media outlets to the Sears Blue Tool Crew media reception after the first day of the National Hardware Show. We headed over to the Renaissance Hotel which is conveniently located next to the Las Vegas Convention center and often holds these types of events.
Expecting a big bright room filled with product and sales folks we were pleasantly surprised as we heard the party booming from down the hall. We were greeted by Lisa, a friendly Blue Tool Crew rep and ushered into the reception. The room was on the small side but in terms of party planning the correct size to get folks mingling and force editors and bloggers to really see the product and chat with reps and not stand in a corner.
What impressed us most was the way they highlighted the product. Hitachi, DeWalt and Craftsman had dedicated tables that showcased their tools with a spotlight and a friendly product manager was there to take us through the lineup. They also offered honest opinions on industry questions we had.
Their customer service demo as impressive and humorous. Although it was staged they made their point and its clear they are seeking to strengthen their position as a leader among tool retailers.
They also took a page out of CES by setting up a big screen TV of their Twitter account and gave nice shoutouts to folks attending who were on Twitter.
Great event and we look forward to attending more.
