We’ve lived with hardwood floors for the past 10 years and can’t imagine going back to carpet, tile or any other type of flooring. There is something warm and inviting about hardwood floors that makes our home feel right. Nothing against new carpet but the only type of flooring that would work well in our last two homes is hardwood.
Our apartment in New York and now our bungalow in LA derive so much of their character from their hardwood floors which aren’t in the best condition but have worn well. Carpet doesn’t “wear well”, it’s either nice and new or worn out.
I recently had an opportunity to chat with Tim Yarbrough, product manager at Impressions Hardwood Collection, and he shared his thoughts on hardwood flooring and why he feels it’s really the best flooring available.
The Impressions Hardwood Collection offers a wide range of products from solid to engineered, smooth faced to handscraped in multiple widths and grades all in today’s most popular wood species and colors. All of the Impressions Hardwood Collection products manufactured with the highest quality standards and are backed by a lifetime finish and structural warranty.
[box]The benefits of hardwood flooring are many and include:
+ Hardwood floors are easy to maintain and keep clean.
+ Hardwood floors can add value to your home because of their durability and natural beauty.
+ Hardwood floors offer a selection in natural color variations, grain patterns and the beauty of a natural material.
+ Hardwood floors are essential for allergy sufferers because they do not promote dust or dust mites.

For us the easy maintenance and cleanliness are top priorities. A quick sweep with a dust mop will remove 90% of the dirt, hair and dust on hardwood floors and for some reason it’s more comforting seeing dust bunnies and removing them then never really seeing dirt that you know gets deep into carpet.
This leads to the second major reason why hardwood floors are for us and that’s the limited amount of allergens that wood floors collect. There’s nowhere for dust or pollen to collect that you can’t see and remove.
But the wood floor wow factor is what really catches our eye. Their is nothing like the beauty of wood floors and when harvested correctly, wood floors are a sustainable resource.
One of the most popular lines of wood flooring from Impressions Hardwood is the Hampton series. There are a number of features that makes this line of flooring standout, which include a true square edge and a Six Sided Seal moisture barrier. A true square edge is the best performing type of wood floor but is difficult to find in prefinished solid hardwood. The Six Sided Seal reduces cupping, warping and seasonal cracking and reduces allergens with anti-mold, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial components.
The Hampton series is made from oak and available in five colors at a 3/4 ” thickness and 2 1/4″ & 3 1/4″ widths. The Hampton series and the entire Impressions Hardwood Collection are sourced and made in the USA which to us is a huge bonus.
Are you considering hardwood flooring in your home? Have we convinced you how amazing it is?
